AMERICAN STOCK EXCHANGE
IMPLEMENTS COMPLEX ORDER ENTRY AND REPORT SYSTEM CAPABILITY
CREATED BY MICRO DESIGN SERVICES, LLC
AMEX INTRODUCES HANDWRITING RECOGNITION
FOR
TRADE EXECUTION REPORTING
August 18, 2003 — Micro Design
Services, LLC (MDS) today announced that the American
Stock Exchange® (Amex®) will implement a new feature
for the handling of complex orders in its online Booth
Automated Routing System (BARS). BARS is an automated
order entry and report system, designed and developed
for the Amex by MDS.
The new system offers expedited processing
of an order from a member firm's trading desk to a floor
broker's hand-held terminal, where it will be fully represented
in the crowd. The handwriting recognition feature will
provide an alternative method of entry for trade executions.
This new feature will provide faster executions and eliminate
a majority of order reentries.
